Fortune's Embrace
Allegory of Fortune
Dosso Dossi (Giovanni di Niccolò de Lutero) (Italian (Ferrarese), about 1490 - 1542)
Music pairing: Sergei Rachmaninoff - 13 Preludes, Op. 32: No. 5. Moderato in G Major
When love is time needed to unfold,
Your eyes our story foretold.
Each hug, each goodbye hard;
Every experience leaves behind a shard.
But broken pieces we are not.
We say our farewells knowing no future
Awaits a bond set apart by culture.
So many visions bring us together,
Yet so much more impede us further.
But in each other’s passions we thrive.
If no sound passes through this space,
We know neither is forgetting in haste.
In silence we shall go back to routine,
Bury the gleaming hope to someday reconvene.
But dearly a light each of us will have and hold.
For Fortune’s embrace,
Comes in many forms and shapes.
